Study visit in Cyprus

On the 18th of September 2023, Emphasys invited a representative from the School of Deaf in Nicosia to discuss the 3D4DEAF project. Lead by a project manager from Emphasys Centre who presented the project aims, results and opened the discussion around the difficulties for deaf people regarding the 3D technologies and the digitalisation in the labour market and also how the consortium of the 3D4DEAF project can help this target group in thriving within society.

Study visit in Spain

The meeting took place in person at Gaudem College with six teachers who teach STEM subjects to deaf students at the center. The project leaders presented the project's objectives and outcomes. There was a discussion about the challenges that deaf individuals face in all areas related to employment entrepreneurship and 3D technologies. The WP2 was explained step by step and the future challenges explained.

Study visit in Italy

The meeting, organized by the partner IST, took place in person at the Magarotto Institute in Turin, with thirteen students who are following the path to become engineers and programmers in the mechanical sector. The project leaders presented the project's objectives and outcomes. There was a discussion about the challenges that deaf individuals face in all areas related to employment, entrepreneurship, and 3D technologies: the participants were very interested and eager to learn more content in their school, including the use of the materials we demonstrated that can be used with the 3D printer. They also emphasized the importance of acquiring some form of technical qualification in today's job market. Deaf and hearing students recognize the possibilities of expanding job opportunities in the job market, overcoming communication challenges with current technology.

Study visit in Greece

The in-person meeting occurred at the Special High School for the Deaf and Hard of Hearing in Thessaloniki. It involved a group of students pursuing careers in STEM disciplines. During the meeting, the project leaders introduced the project's goals and expected results. There was a conversation about the obstacles that deaf individuals encounter in aspects such as employment, entrepreneurship, and 3D technologies. The discussion also revolved around how this project would positively impact the deaf community by developing resources like glossaries and guides.

Study visit in Poland

The study visit was co-organised by SAN and Pitagoras. The associate partner, who provided feedback about WP2 was Migam S.A., a company having a social impact for the Deaf community, by providing video interpretation in sign language. The Deaf people are co-founders and co-creators of Migam. Company was represented by its Marketing Director. Project's team members from SAN and Pitagoras presented project aims, objectives and results. At the end of the meeting, participants discussed the difficulties and challenges for deaf people regarding digitalisation and entering the labour market.
